I Got Pickled!

I first tried pickleball while visiting the beautiful Gambier Island, BC.

It’s happened. I’ve been pickled.

This past winter, I finally tried the fastest growing sport in North America – pickleball.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • In 2023, the Sports & Fitness Industry Association declared pickleball as America’s fastest-growing sport for the third year in a row.
  • Pickleball participation increased by an astonishing 158.6 percent over three years.
  • There are 8.9 million players in the U.S. over the age of six years old.
  • Similar growth has been seen in Canada, with a jump of almost half a million players in just one year.

Add one to that tally, although I picked (pickled?) it up in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. And the result? I love it! The open play league I joined is full of friendly people who enjoy being active. We play in pairs and switch partners each time we play, so I got to meet a lot of people and play with different skill levels. Everyone was very helpful with rules and pointers so I could improve.

So, I suggested a pickleball article for one of my clients, the beautiful publication Cabo Living magazine. Here’s how it turned out – I love pickleball and I am proud of this particular article. Hope you enjoy it. (scroll to read or download the pdf)
