Doin’ the Cabo Wabo

I had never heard of Cabo San Lucas when I bought OU812 in the 1980s, the CD featuring the hit song Cabo Wabo. I had been a Van Halen fan since their first album, through the David Lee Roth years and then with the addition of Sammy Hagar.

By the time I made my first visit to Los Cabos 20+ years later, I had heard of the Cabo Wabo Cantina, so I headed there for a drink and to have my photo taken “with the band” – which consisted of the busts of the band members inside the bar.

This year, I felt a lot of pride when I was asked to write about the Cantina’s 35th anniversary for Cabo Living magazine. It was a lot of fun to get to know Jorge, and hear the story of Cabo Wabo Cantina. Here it is, I hope you enjoy it too. Click below to download the pdf.
